So what is Team 464?
Hi, my name is Chad Soileau and in March 2006 I weighed 464
pounds. 464 will always hold a special place in my heart
because it was this number that made me realize that unless I
made some drastic changes in my life I wasn't going to be around
in 5 years. I have since lost over 250 pounds and live a
healthy active lifestyle by running, cycling, swimming,
weightlifting and boxing on a daily basis.
Gulf Coast 70.3 Half Ironman Triathlon (9 May 2009)
Crescent City Classic (11 April 2009)
Heart O' Dixie Triathlon (25 July 2009)
Ironman Florida (7 November 2009)
Ironman Championship Series, KONA!
(TBD...)
A constant question I get from my
parents and close family regarding my triathlon training
and racing is "Why do you want to put yourself through
the pain, the agony and the physical and mental
exhaustion?" I try to explain to them that this is
MY lifestyle now. I do it BECAUSE I CAN. It's for
the nerves, the camaraderie, the compression of the
wetsuit and the sand between my toes when I swim, the
feeling of my feet hitting the pavement when I run, the
wind in my face when I ride the bike and most of all the
amazing rush of emotions that are incomparable to any
synthetic drug on the planet when I cross the finish
line. A simple explanation can never suffice to explain
the feelings that I feel when I complete a race knowing
the training that I put into it and most of all knowing
where I was 2 years ago. I do it for myself, FOR
the pain, FOR
the agony, FOR the exhaustion - for the FINISH!
